Jamestown First School

Welcome to the Jamestown First School. Our school is the first school that a visitor to the Island of St Helena might encounter.

We are situated on Market Street, the main road that leads up the centre of the James Valley towards the other areas of the Island.

Our school was built in 1959 and originally opened as Jamestown Junior School. It became Jamestown First in 1988 as part of restructuring to a three tier education system.

Our pupil catchment areas are Jamestown, The Briars and the lower part of Half Tree Hollow. Currently we have between 60 and 70 pupils in full time education and around 20 nursery children. Admission to the Reception Class takes place at age 5 and children transfer to middle school after age 7. The staff is made up of 12 teachers and assistants on a full or part-time basis.

Please take some time to browse around our site and meet some of the staff and students.
