point National Museum of Korea
The National Museum of Korea was established to excavate, collect, research and study, preserve and exhibit archeologically and historically significant articles, artifacts, relics and cultural properties and to promote and enhance the understanding of traditional culture.

  Principal Activities
 
1) Exhibitions
The National Museum has responsibility for the accumulation preservation,
management and exhibition of relics and cultural properties in the national
collection.
2) Excavation
The National Museum conducts scientific excavations and researches on historic sites. It also conducts urgent excavations of sites that are in danger of destruction, especially due to urban development or modernization projects.
3) Research
The museum conducts researches on life in ancient Korea and ways to make the study of archaeology more scientific. It also studies Korean art history and works toward reviving and restoring traditional arts and crafts.
In addition, the museum researches and collects folk materials through on-site studies and activities.
4) Publications
The museum publishes scientific materials, including reports on excavations, a journal of archaeology and pictorial records of the collection and of special exhibitions, as well as other material on Korean art.
5) Maintenance
The National Museum is responsible for the maintenance and operation of buildings, machines, electric installations and other equipment involved in museum management.

The National National Institute of Korean Language was established by Presidential decree on November 4, 1990 to contribute to the promotion of Korean culture by providing basic materials for the formulation of a national language policy.

  Principal Activities
 
1) Research
The National Academy of the Korean Language conducts scientific and systematic researches on the Korean language, sets up norms for the Korean language on such matters as correct spelling, grammar, word spacing, speech and proper forms of address. It also studies the historic changes in the Korean language.
2) Collection of Resources
The academy collects, arranges, collates, preserves and disseminates esearch materials on the Korean language.
3) Education and Publication
The academy develops materials and standards for Korean language education and publishes related materials.

The National Library of Korea has various roles, including the collecting and preserving of documentary records of Korea as a form of recorded cultural heritage, providing information and knowledge to the general public,f supervising the national library systems and leading the information society through active exchanges and cooperation with other countries.

  Principal Activities
 
1) Collection, Classification and Preservation of Data
The National Library collects comprehensively and systematically recorded national documents, which have been handed down as part of Korea's cultural heritage as well as the intellectual products of today. The data has been collected through deposit of publications, purchasing, donations and international book exchanges. The number of annual collections of books is over 22,000. And as Korea's representative library, it conducts its primary task of preserving and handing down the national heritage of recorded documents through systematic classification and preservation of the data collected using scientific methods.
2) Publications
The Library annually publishes the Korean National Bibliography of Publications which includes the Bibliographic Index of Publications in Korea. And it also publishes a monthly report of deposits of publications, The Library Journal (quarterly), Library Information Newsletter of Libraries (monthly) in order to provide libraries in and outside of Korea, research institutes, academic organizations and the general public with information of books that it has collected and possesses, and articles dealing with libraries and their services.
3) The Digital-Networking of Libraries
The National Library has been digitally networking libraries since 1982. It has implemented a project to develop document data processing standardization tools and their systems, and established a national bibliographic database for documents published in Korea. It has also built up the "Library Network," which enables all libraries in Korea to join a single network, and digitalized documents and other data it possesses, so that everyone can share documents at the same time using the network system.
4) Cooperation with other libraries
The National Library, as a library which represents Korea, has already established a mutual cooperation system with other libraries inside and outside of Korea, and based on the system, it has exchanged information, materials and personnel with them in many ways.
5) Education and Training Librarians
The National Library, in its efforts to meet the demands of the public for a variety of information and the new library environment of today in the information society, has promulgated the computerization and standardization of all the tasks in the library, and has conducted programs of education and retraining librarians working at other large and small-sized libraries across the nation in order for them to be prepared for the advanced and specialized operation system of public and private libraries in the coming information society.
6) Cultural Events.
The National Library functions as an open library to the public by holding various cultural events, such as music concerts, culture schools, movies and exhibitions. Through thee events, it has clearly marked its place as a complex cultural space which provides information, knowledge and artistic sentiment to the general public.
 
point National Folk Museum
The National Folk Museum was established to further examine and research traditional Korean lifestyles and customs, and to collect, preserve and exhibit artifacts and other materials, as well as to promote traditional folk culture. The Museum holds regular and special exhibitions, publishes various articles and papers such as "Research Paper on Traditional Folk Culture," and holds social education programs. It has initiated cultural education programs for foreigners to promote Korean culture.

The Korean Culture and Arts Council Korea was established with the goal of preserving and advancing the Korean national heritage through the promotion of culture and the arts. It supports academic research and creative activities, as well as a wider access to cultural and artistic events. Since its foundation in 1972, the KCAF has devoted itself to improving the quality of cultural life for all Koreans.

point The Copyright Commission for Deliberation and Conciliation
The commision`s principal activities include the monitoring of royalties and commission rates for consigned management of copyrights in accordance with the Copyright Law. It also concentrates on raising awareness of copyright through research, education, training, promotional activities and publications, and also operates the Copyright Information Center.
