Yahoo Acquires Del.icio.us

It was only a matter of time before the crown prince of social bookmarking sites, del.icio.us, attracted the attention (and wallet) of a bigger company, and that day has arrived.
del.icio.us has been bought by Yahoo!, which is an interesting move for the company which already has its own social bookmarking service, My Web 2.0.
What this means for del.icio.us is hard to say at this point. Will it remain a separate product or will Yahoo! try to merge it with My Web 2.0? Will del.icio.us start allowing, and eventually requiring, Yahoo! logins as in the case of Flickr?
Will Yahoo! be the first company to tag the entire web? del.icio.us lead Joshua Schachter remarks on the del.icio.us blog that Yahoo! "definitely gets social systems and their potential to change the web," and I would tend to agree, but it will be very interesting to see where this leads.
