La FaÎs’sie d’Cidre

Venue: Hamptonne

Dates:
Saturday 15 October 2011 - Sunday 16 October 2011

Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October, Hamptonne

Celebrating Jersey’s rich heritage of growing apples and making cider, 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, is daytime fun for all ages: apple games, displays, stalls, competitions, art and crafts, delicious local food and music and cider.

Event highlight is the traditional cider making. The magnificent sight of a horse walking around the Chausey granite crusher crushing apples, then the apple pulp layered with Hessian on the twin-screw wooden Press to extract the juice that will be put into barrels and turned into cider.

Once again we anticipate all the usual, popular local ingredients and participants in the day time, including freshly baked Cabbage Loaves and Jersey Wonders, apple juggling & plate spinning, Morris Dancing, an exhibition of archive photographs, Longest of the Longest Peel & Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin competitions, apple juicing, Jerriais Language stall and performances, Chutneys, Black Butter & preserves on sale, the States of Jersey Recycling Road Show trailer, CAMRA (Jersey) tent selling speciality ciders & Perry, La Robeline trailer Cidre dé Jèrri plus local pork sausage sandwiches, Hog Roast, roast chestnuts, Jersey Cider Orchard Trust, Apple Experts and a display of local apple varieties, a children’s crafts marquee plus art & crafts with Bianca Padidar, Women’s Institute Jersey Country Market, various Genuine Jersey Market Stall holders, a face painter and the Jersey Hedgehog Group's stall. Plus we are planning some extra attractions: the Jersey Beekeepers will be judging their honey competition and displaying entries and winners and the Jersey Cider Orchard Trust will hopefully have speciality local ciders to taste.

Throughout the weekend there will be lots of entertainment including live music.
