Seasonal Worker Program

Welcome to the Seasonal Worker Program home page.

The Seasonal Worker Program will commence on 1 July 2012, building onthe Pacific Seasonal Worker Pilot Scheme in contributing to the economic development of participating countries, while also offering Australian employers in the horticulture industry access to workers from eight Pacific island nations and East Timor when they cannot find enough local labour to satisfy seasonal demand. Please see a copy of the media release to find out more about the announcement of the Seasonal Worker Program.

The Australian Government will also undertake a small-scale, three year trial of seasonal labour mobility arrangements in selected regions with accommodation providers, aquaculture ventures and cotton and cane growers.
