U.S. Donates HMMWV "HumVees" and Trailers to Moldovan Peacekeeping Battalion

The HMMWV "HumVees" and trailer donated by the U.S. to the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion of the Moldovan National Army

On November 12, Ambassador William H. Moser took part in a ceremony with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti and Minister of Defense Valeriu Troenco marking the donation by the U.S. of 39 HMMWV "HumVees" and 10 trailers at a value of $700,000 to the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion of the Moldovan National Army.  These vehicles will increase the capability of Moldovan peacekeeping contingents.  At the ceremony, the Ambassador thanked the Moldovan government for their extensive contributions to peacekeeping operations around the world.  Saying the U.S. was proud to have provided Moldova with over $31 million in security assistance since independence, the Ambassador added, "In today's interconnected world of global markets, we are all dependent upon the security and stability of our neighbors and our region.  In the modern world it has become obvious that we must work together to ensure a common peaceful world in which we can all prosper."
