BUCHAREST (Romania), March 17 (SeeNews) - Moldova's parliament on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in order to be able to tackle the coronavirus disease outbreak more efficiently.
The country will be in a state of emergency for a period of 60 days, until May 16, a statement posted on the parliament's website showed.
The state of emergency was requested by both president Igor Dodon and prime minister Ion Chicu.
Starting March 17, Moldova closed borders with Romania and Ukraine and suspended all international flights.
As of Tuesday, Moldova has 29 confirmed coronavirus cases, according to health ministry data.
