The European Union is getting ready to send a civilian mission to Moldova. The delegation will consist of justice, police, and customs officers, and will offer recommendations on how to improve the security system, reports Welt am Sonntag.

After Russian troops entered Ukraine, the Moldovan government felt « increasingly threatened, » according to the newspaper. On January 28, Chisinau wrote to Brussels requesting assistance from the EU.

The European External Action Service (EEAS), according to the newspaper, is creating a crisis management model with end of March as the projected completion date. It will include suggestions for the mission’s scope, character, and objectives. The Baltic States, Germany, Poland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Romania, and Denmark all backed the idea of sending the mission.
