Poland has transferred a large batch of weapons, ammunition and gear to equip the Moldovan police.

Support for Chisinau was provided against the background of attempts to destabilize the country internally by pro-Russian forces.

Mariusz Kamiński, Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland, made the announcement on his social networks.

The volume of the transferred cargo fit into six transport planes: two Hercules and four CASAs.

“Independent and sovereign Moldova, which resists attempts at internal destabilization, needs our support. That is why I decided to hand over a huge load to the Moldovan police,” the Minister wrote on Twitter.

The Polish minister noted that the cargo consisted of weapons, ammunition and other equipment from the country’s security forces.

The Polish minister did not specify which weapons and ammunition were handed over to the Moldovan police.

Mariusz Kamiński also published a few photos featuring a Hercules military transport aircraft of the Polish Air Force, loaded with boxes and equipment.

Moreover, on May 31, the first batch of equipment from the EU, provided by the European Peace Facility for the Moldovan military, arrived in Moldova. This €7 million aid package includes drones, laptops, explosive ordnance disposal equipment, ultrasound equipment and more.

By the end of the year, as part of this assistance, Moldova will also receive ambulances, sapper robots, metal detectors, radars, vehicles and medical equipment, the country’s Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi said.

Also, the European Peace Facility will allocate € 80 million for the needs of logistics and communication, as well as for IT equipment. Under this assistance, radar equipment will also be purchased, which will expand the monitoring capabilities of the national airspace.

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, emphasized that the delivered batch of equipment was only the EU’s first step in strengthening Moldova’s security.
