Melanie C captured a member of security staff dancing along to her DJ set as she headlined Northern Pride in Newcastle on Saturday night.

The Spice Girl icon had the job of bringing the curtain down on a colourful day of festivities at the Town Moor, after celebrations got going earlier on in the day with a huge Pride march from the Civic Centre, which attracted a crowd over 30,000 participants. Other acts on the main stage at the Moor on Saturday included Say Something dance diva Karen Harding and Drag Idol Newcastle winner turned Drag Race UK contestant Choriza May.

Melanie, who first shot to worldwide pop fame when Wannabe topped the charts 26 years ago now, delighted Pride revellers with a DJ set that even included Spice Girls' 1996 Christmas number one 2 Become 1 and Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels; a track from Todrick Hall, the singer who kicked off the UK Pride action in Newcastle at the Launch Party on Friday night.

And it was during that song that the security guard in front of the safety barrier at the foot of the stage was filmed getting right into it, moving their shoulders in time to the music and then adding in some hand movements as members of the crowd willed him on. Melanie uploaded the video to her Instagram story and captioned it: "Security enjoying the set."

The I Turn To You singer clearly had a ball at Pride in Newcastle as, next to another video she uploaded of her DJ set, she wrote: "Ain't no Pride like a Northern Pride!"

There was plenty of reaction to Melanie C's Pride set on Twitter, with one reveller clearly in shock that she was on the decks, as they tweeted: "I literally almost forgot to say that the DJ set at pride was immense and the DJ was f**king Mel C from the spice girls like??? Crazy."
